the incredible growing boy

remember him?

3, maybe 4 years ago, i was sitting with a fat leo, nursing at the new england aquarium. a smart, outgoing little boy had befriended jack. who had wandered, or maybe stomped, over to the large tank in the middle. admiring sharks. probably wishing there was a way he could feed leo to one of them. in a 15 minute spurt the owner of the little boy and i tossed words at each other and a connection was made. it took us almost 2 years after that day to reconnect but i'm so glad we did. and now there is Phin who is as delicious as they come. our summer has been inching along and racing by all at the same time. we float from play date to play date, trying to exhaust the boys while getting in some grown up time. three weeks of camp just disappeared for jack. my creativity is getting the short end of the stick and i miss writing and putting pictures together.

little Phin gave me a good burst though, and gave me something worth pointing my lens at.

for any photo nerds out there, all these images were edited with the NEW VSCO 02 Film Pack i'll just keep it short and sweet and say, they did it again, and i'm totally in love.

my thanks

i'm very awkward in almost every way. i suck at talking on the phone and i do better socially with people under the age of 6. i blurt out emotions full on and in your face, or i keep it all inside for years at a time. my sister in law (yea, you Jill) has helped me so much in the last few weeks, all the while i was supposed to be the one helping her with my twin niece and nephew on her day off. life works in very odd ways and for years i was too shy around Jill. but the last few weeks she's helped me more than my awkward, fumbling, brain barf words could do justice. so when it was father's day and both twins were fed and happy and still dressed and my nephew, their older brother, was outside playing and happy i bossed them all over to the fence. i am brimming with far more creative ways to photograph them (hear that guys?!?!) but we all know we want the photo of everyone relatively happy, no one blinking and no one crying.

holy shit. did i do it? that's three kids under the age of TWO for those of you at home keeping track.

but really. i just wanted to do this for them. for her. FOR YOU JILL.

it just looks better on the blog sometimes...

this is my sweetest Paloma. she and my littlest man have grown up together thus far. they are the best of friends. a few weeks ago i begged her to sit so that i could practice using the LensBaby Edge80 i got. she didn't sit for long and i got a total of two frames from that day that "worked" that are still not perfect. ya know, i think i should just erase the word perfect from my dictionary...
